As well as preparing you for a professional career in science, the Bachelor of Science is the first step towards a career in fields such as engineering, veterinary science or health practice, which can be pursued through further study. This course is an ideal pathway, along with the Bachelor of Biomedicine, to graduate professional entry programs in dental science, medicine, nursing, optometry and physiotherapy. It is also the shortest pathway to the Doctor of Veterinary Medicine at Melbourne.

Entry requirements for the Bachelor of Science
Access Melbourne allows you to be considered below the Clearly-in Rank. Guaranteed entry is available to eligible students from a rural area or disadvantaged financial background. i
Access Melbourne can help you gain a place in a course, even if your ATAR is below the Clearly-in Rank. Eligible students must apply through Access Melbourne and meet prerequisites.
Prerequisites
Units 3 & 4: A study score of at least 25 in English/English Language/ Literature or at least 30 in EAL, and at least 25 in Mathematical Methods or Specialist Mathematics, and in one of Biology, Chemistry or Physics; OR A study score of at least 25 in English/English Language/Literature or at least 30 in EAL, and at least 25 in both Mathematical Methods and Specialist Mathematics.
Applicants intending to progress to the Doctor of Veterinary Medicine are encouraged to complete VCE Units 3 and 4 in Chemistry or equivalent. Applicants who wish to enter the DVM via the Veterinary Bioscience accelerated pathway must complete either a level 1 physics subject at the University of Melbourne or VCE Units 3 and 4 in Physics or equivalent.
Fees
All domestic undergraduate students enrol in a Commonwealth Supported Place (CSP), which is subsidised by the Australian Government. Students pay a contribution amount that is determined by the Australian Government, based on the subjects undertaken. More details on fees and student contribution amounts.
Credit/Advanced standing
If you have completed post-secondary study, you may be eligible for credit/advanced standing towards your studies at the University. Find out more.
